Twice in a year

Jeremey Parker of Houston, Texas, 35, is charged with fraudulently obtaining more than $274K between December 2008 and October 2009 following an alleged hack against the network of SWReg Inc, a Digital River subsidiary.

The money was redirected to an account under is control, as mentioned in the indictment filed in Federal Court in Minnesota and unsealed on Tuesday (here)

A separate computer intrusion earlier this year obliged Digital River to obtain a court order against an individual who was allegedly planning to sell 200,000 records from a stolen database according to net security firm Sophos.

When the Navy got sunk

IT security is not a piece of cake and even those, who think they’re ready to fight back, seem to be unaware of basic attacks. And this is what happened when, few days ago, the Royal Navy web site (www.royalnavy.mod.uk) was hacked…

Hacker TinKode used a basic SQL injection mechanism to penetrate the Royal web site. This even gave him the opportunity to grab some interesting credentials such as the administrator login and password.

Even though this attack was not to place a malware on targeted web site, it illustrates how complex IT security is.
